PKF Advises Alternative Energy Ireland (AEI) on Their Sale to DCC PLC Owned Certa

Alternative Energy Ireland (AEI) has been acquired by Certa, a subsidiary of DCC plc.

AEI is a renewable energy installation company that designs and installs renewable energy systems including solar PV panels that generate electricity, solar thermal panels that heat water, heat recovery ventilation systems and home heat pumps.

The company has designed and installed Solar PV systems, LED lighting systems, and EV charging facilities for a wide range of commercial customers, including Adare Manor, Woodies, Chadwicks and Stormont Castle.

This acquisition is expected to support Certa’s commercial, industrial and domestic customers to make greener, sustainable choices and the transition to renewable energy solutions that reduce their carbon emissions and lower their energy costs. The acquisition of AEI will enable the wider DCC plc’s group to reach its net zero carbon emission goal by 2050.

A PKF team of David Lucas and Conor O’Rourke in Corporate Finance, Kevin Quinn of PKF Tax and Darren Clarke of the Business Services team acted as advisors in this acquisition.

Steven Bray, founder and managing director of AEI, said:

“Thank you to Eoghan Doyle, Inez Cullen and Tom Conway from Philip Lee LLP. It was a pleasure to work with you on this project. A huge thank you to David Lucas, Conor O’Rourke, Kevin Quinn, Darren Clarke, and the wider team at PKF O’Connor Leddy & Holmes Limited. I never realised just how much effort and expertise was required to conduct a company acquisition. I’ve a newfound respect for the process. Excellent corporate advice, combined with expert accounting from the one team.”

David Lucas, PKF Corporate Finance Partner, said:

“Great result here for a terrific client, Steven Bray from AEI. This was a case of multiple teams in PKF supporting our client on this important and complex transaction. It is great to see a PKF client at the forefront of the renewable energy drive to support a sustainable future for all. I’d like to wish Steven every success in the future as part of the DCC Group.”
